Problems with media files in Lamus and Annex: "No streaming media available""
Hello,
The LAT system has been recently installed in the Language Bank of Finland. I have been trying to upload the first two corpora with Lamus, and I already succeeded in searching my new EAF files with Trova. However, I am still experiencing problems with Annex and media files, and I cannot seem to find help in any of the manuals.
Audio:
I have tried uploading WAV files (16 bit, 44100 Hz sampling) with Lamus. However, Annex will not play them but complains "No streaming media available". Should Annex be able to play WAV files (without linked video)? I also tried some MP3 files, but Lamus refuses to upload them. Is there a particular MP3 bitrate/format that I should use? The files can be played normally from the corpus tree in the IMDI browser.
Video:
I have tried uploading video files in MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 which I managed to create with VLC in my Mac. Lamus accepts some .mpg files but obviously cannot stream them in Annex. The .mp4 files I have created either cannot be uploaded or they do not work in Annex either. My original files are WMV. I understand that there is a specific MPEG-4 format with a streaming switch that I should be using, but apparently I am unable to produce it with VLC...? Could you tell me which piece of software I should be using for the conversion? I am even willing to buy a conversion tool that is known to work ;-)
Are these "no streaming media" problems actually due to unsupported file formats, or is it possible that they are due to an erroneous linking of the media files? I have tried both linking and not linking the media files first within a local corpus in Arbil, and then linking them with Lamus. Everything seems to work fine within Elan. Or can this be related with the server and access rights, which have caused some problems for us? The kleve-route demo corpus with audio and video does work fine in Annex, which is why I think that the server is correctly configured already.
Thank you very much for any advice - and Merry Christmas!
