Search options
I've been looking at both the IMDI editor and browser and I am wondering whether it would be possible to search 'throughout' ELAN and IMDI files. As far as I could figure out, the answer to my question is 'no', but maybe someone can shed a different light on this matter.
We are working on a corpus that is annotated for linguistic strategies for creating humor. Is it - at present - possible to formulate a query that gives you all the instances (info from ELAN-annotations) of f.e. 'sarcasm' uttered by f.e. speakers between 45-60 years (info from IMDI-files). In other words, is it possible to combine content information from ELAN-files and IMDI-files?
Re: Search options
Indeed, this is not yet possible. What currently can be done in the archive context (using the online IMDI browser) is:
1) perform a metadata search on a (sub) corpus; it is possible to search for e.g. sessions with actors (speakers) of a certain age. The results is a list of session files.
2) given this list of sessions, the button "Content search" will launch the annotation content search tool and provide it with the annotation files that are referenced in the sessions. Now the content search query can be constructed, but it will be executed in all tiers, unless you select the tiers manually. In other words, the metadata search does not provide the information, on the basis of which the content search can select the tiers to query (e.g. the participant attributes).
Extension of both search functions is planned.

Dear Han
Thanks for the ever-clarifying answers. I'm looking forward to the extension of the search functions!
