Some issues concerning the Mac OS X variants of ELAN 3.0
As of ELAN version 3.0 Mac users have the choice between 2 variants of the installer and, since this week, Web Start. The versions were labelled as Mac OS 10.3 and 10.4 version. But the real difference is the required Java version, Java 1.4.x vs. 1.5 (a.k.a. 5.0). So, there is one version for 10.3 and 10.4 without Java 1.5 and another for 10.4 with Java 1.5. On Intel based Macs however the 10.4 + Java 1.5 version is required.As a side effect of fixes and new functionality of the QuickTime based mediaplayer a videoimage sometimes first appears in the upper left corner of the screen, outside of the ELAN window. Remainders of the image stay on top of the main menubar even after the window is fully initialised. Although the menu can be cleansed by switching to another application and back, this is a nuisance. We will try to fix it in the next release.
