fonts and letters

Posted by aoksanen at 2011-11-29 18:12

In Elan Menu items, icons and screen displays are written in the font sans-serif.

This causes that all letters are not visible on the screen, for example all skolt sami letters.

Is it possible to put into operation for example Doulos font in Elan to show more letters?

Kindly, Auli Oksanen

ELAN does currently not provide a means to change the fonts for the standard UI interface elements. Maybe in the future.

ELAN on Windows comes with a Java Runtime Environment included, installed in the "jre" directory in the ELAN install folder. I never did so myself, but what you could do is go into the "jre\lib" folder and change (or create) the fontconfig.properties file. I believe you can find information on the structure of that file and how it is used to make changes to the font settings (without having to be afraid to effect other Java programs).

If you manage to make the changes you want, you're welcome to post your experiences here.

Late thanks for Your answer! Haven't been on Elan lately, so I didn't notice Your post ..

I shall try to make those changes by myself and  will post my experiences.

Terveisin!
