initializing problems with 4.1

Posted by chrdoehler at 2011-07-09 13:30

I have a couple of .eaf files from an older project which I did with ELAN 3.9. The latest ELAN version ran without problems on my mac-book-air, so far. when I try to open the older files with ELAN 4.1, I get just a blank window after initializing. files that I created with the newer version of ELAN run without a problem, but the older ones I can only open with an older version of ELAN (e.g.: 3.9).
did anyone come across this before? Is there an easy workaround for this problem? can I somehow start a new file in the newer ELAN and import the data from the old .eaf?

Hi, maybe you accidentally tried to open the old EAF file
as a media file for a new EAF file, instead of opening it
as EAF file directly?

Version 3.9 isn't a that old version, so I can't explain why it shouldn't open.
Can you send one of the files to me, maybe together with the contents of the log (View->View Log...)? I can then try to reproduce the problem.
