Sound file visualisation not visible

Posted by Rsinger at 2011-06-16 06:02

Hi,

I'm wondering if there is any solution to a problem I have had and I think a number of other people have too.

I'm using Elan 4.1.1 on a Mac running OS 10.6.7 although its a few years old.

When I add a linked wav sound file which is quite large (1-2 GB) the trace of the sound file (which I think should loudness) does not appear. This is quite useful for time-aligning. However, I am able to play the sound file in Elan.

My solution in the past has been to convert the wav file to a smaller file. This solves the problem, but it wastes time and also space because it means that I then have to have two separate copies of each sound file.

So, I'm just wondering if anybody has found a different solution which doesn't involve duplicating the sound file.

Cheers,

Ruth

Hi! Only uncompressed PCM wave audio WAV files can be displayed. Maybe your file is internally MP3 compressed and only has WAV headers added to it? That might also influence exactness of seeking while you play the audio.
