How to select multiple annotations

Posted by yuki at 2011-04-12 05:04

Dear All,

I have a very simple question. How can I select multiple annotations in different tiers? Or maybe in ELAN way to put it, how to activate multiple annotations in different tiers?

What I want to do is to shift multiple annotations which are in different tiers. Using "Annotation>Shift>Active Annotation..."

Usually active annotations is shown in blue line, but only one annotation can be activated. Is there a way either to activate multiple annotations or shift multiple annotations in different tiers without activating them?

Hi Yuki,

I found alt-click mentioned in the manual in ELAN (PS: it might be interesting to improve the search function) but that does not seem to work in Linux. Changing the special key for things like moving windows from (left) ALT to META (the 'microsoft' key) did not help.

The special key of KDE can be changed by clicking on the program icon in the title bar of your window, selecting window behavior, there selecting actions and picking either ALT or META from a drop down list at the lower right of the dialog.

Note that you can shift whole tiers or all tiers, either left or right of the time-cursor, or the annotations in a selected timespan in one tier (but apparently not in all tiers?). You can also manipulate 'annotation groups' according to the manual, which means annotations and their dependent annotations in the tier dependency tree.

I hope this helps a bit, maybe alt-clicking just works on Mac or Windows?

Regards, Eric

Yes, it is possible to select multiple annotations by alt-clicking but currently the only action that can be performed on them is to delete them in one action.

Eric and Han,

Thanks for replying. Since now I know that only task I can do with multiple selection is to delete, I'll stop looking for a way to shift multiple annotations for now.

Yuki
