Problem with audio playback for mpg2 files
Hi there,
I'm new to ELAN and trying to segment a tier in order to add annotations. However, I can't advance because every time I launch the segmentation window and start to segment, the audio playback stops after some time and all I get is silent playback. Closing and re-opening the file seems to help initially, but after 20 seconds or so the same problem reoccurs. This problem occurs with both ELAN 3.9.1. and 4.0.1 on a Windows 7 machine.

This is likely a problem related to the codec involved in playing the mpeg2 file. If you right-click the video and select "Show Filer Graph" you can inspect which filters (codecs) are used for playing the file. It is just for the information, it doesn't allow you to select any other codec.
If you have also a .wav audio file extracted from the video file and make that one the first media file in the list of "linked media" (it then is the "master media") you might have less problems with the audio stopping.
