Hello!
I'm using ELAN for the first time and I can't import files from Transcriber.I followed the instructions in the manual (file > import > transcriber file), but unfortunately I can't seem to make it work. There is no reaction in ELAN, it just returns back to the "normal" interface.
What am I doing wrong?

You didn't do anything wrong, you just ran into a bug that has been introduced in the latest version. Some changes have been made in dealing with so called controlled vocabularies and we failed to adapt the Transcriber import function accordingly.
As a new user you probably don't have the previous version installed. It is possible to download and install e.g. version 3.9.1 (http://www.lat-mpi.eu/tools/elan/elan-old-versions) and use that one to import Transcriber files. Once saved as eaf you can work with them in the latest/current version. Installing the older version might overwrite the file association with eaf. You could, if you like ELAN 4.0.0 to be associated with eaf, change the association manually (or install 4.0.0 again after 3.9.1).
