Need help with Elan

I'm taking a class that requires us to use ELAN and I'm having trouble getting Elan to open my files. I've a wav file, an MP4 file and a template I need to open, but Elan has just hangs and says "initializing" Can anyone help? Thanks.

The problem might be the MP4 file? You could try by creating a new file based on the .wav file and the template only. If that works, the player has a problem with the mp4 file.
On which operating system is this, can the default media player play the mp4 file?

Hi, I'm having the same problem with ELAN 4. I'm running Windows 7, using an mp4 file from my Flip video camera. I can play the video in Windows Media Player and in QuickTime. If I set ELAN to use Windows Media Player in the Platform/OS preferences, it crashes; if I set it to use any other media framework, I get the neverending Initializing.
