Timing

Hi
This may seem like a stupid question, but I can't work out how you can tell precisely when an utterance starts and finishes in order to add the annotation and then in order to time align each word. Please help!
caf
In terms of methodology one approach can be to select an interval, play it a few times, adjust the interval, play it again etc. until you are satisfied with the alignment and create the annotation. But if the question is about the interpretation of where one utterance/word ends and the next one begins, I'm afraid there are no guideline for that (but someone else might know some?).
