   Indeed.

For example, I'm finishing something a Tier said and then quickly press ENTER for the line to close so I can move to the next speech moment after a pause. Now, after pressing ENTER I go either back or forward rather quickly, with SHIFT+ARROW and then quickly press ALT+C to clear selection then CTR+SPACE to start a selection. The problem is, to my belief, that sometimes either ELAN or Windows itself doesn't take it. Although I don't think it's Windows because we're on a CoreDuo 3.00GHz and 4Gb RAM, but then again... it's Windows...

  We're using Windows XP Professional ( 5.1 comp 2600 ) SP3 .

The sound files are WAV and the video files are MPG .

Rename the files? That's what I first thought. Press F2 and erase the .001 . Well, not in this version of XP at least. The files are named exactly like the original ones ELAN is working with, but the file TYPE is .001 . Strange, isn't it?

Oh, by the way, I have written an "ELAN for Starters" manual for other colleagues here in Lleida and at the University of Barcelona and Cardiff. There are a couple of things yet to be added, but everybody found it rather useful because it's technical-jargon-free as we'd say. Contact me in case you'd like to have a look at it.

Ah, I see. I never noticed it, but could be that rapidly using a series of shortcuts could lead to problems. The media player(s) and the viewers need to be updated several times and there could be a problem in the synchronisation of these events? Can try to reproduce.

We're always interested in documentation like that, written by users. We could add it to the "third party resources" page, if you like (there are already similar documents there, but more are welcome).
