When opening a file stops in the initializing phase, this is usually due to a (unreported) problem with the media player.
You can check this in the logfile: try to open the file until it stop in initializing, exit ELAN, check the log file for error messages at the end. The log file is in <user_home>\.elan_data\elan0.log or, on the Mac, <user_home>/Library/Preferences/ELAN/elan0.log.

I'm having the same problem, but I'm afraid that I don't understand where to find the log file. Is it in one of the files that appeared when I downloaded the program?<br><br>Thanks.<br>
