advanced typography support

Hi,<br><br>I'm trying to input some data into Elan that contains diacritics.&nbsp; I have no trouble entering the diacritics, but they do not function the way the font's instructions intend them to be displayed.&nbsp; I'm using Doulos SIL which has instructions to make diacritic placement work, but an application must support this advanced typograpy.&nbsp; Elan doesn't seem to support this.&nbsp; Am I missing something?&nbsp; <br><br>thanks<br><br>

I don't think you are missing something. ELAN is written in the Java programming language and relies on the built in rendering capabilities of Java. These might differ per platform and these capabilities are often less advanced than what is available on the system.
Extending Java's support for advanced rendering is on the wish list (but will be a lot of work with uncertain outcome).
