Automatically add a tier for 'silence'

Automatically add a tier for 'silence'
It seems that Elan can calculate 'silences' automatically (i.e. the duration of periods of non-annotation), e.g. in the 'silence duration indication' option when exporting as 'traditional transcript text'. Is it possible to use this capability to create a tier within an elan transcript which gives these silence durations? (c.f. e.g. the automatic creation of overlap tiers)
Re: Automatically add a tier for 'silence'
If you've created your tier using the Silence Recognizer, you can use it again to create another tier (Silence Recognizer > Segmentations > Create Tier(s)) for which only the silence segments are included (select only the silence segment in: Per Segmentation > Select and configure segments > Include in tier). This is far from being perfect, but it is the only workaround I know.
Adding such a feature would be of great use, as these intervals of silence can be important in linguistic analysis. If this feature is already in existence, hidden somewhere in the interface, making it easier to use would be appreciated.
On this occasion I would to thank the people behind ELAN for making this wonderful tool! :-)
Re: Automatically add a tier for 'silence'
This is not implemented yet, but is on the to-do list. Some possible options for such a feature could be:
* insert the new "silence" annotations on the same tier or on a new tier
* create empty annotations or add the duration as annotation value or use a standard label
