Annotation not visible

Hi,

I have encountered a previously unknown problem: While typing a new annotation, it does not appear in the blank field. Only after I hit Ctrl+Enter the whole annotation is suddenly visible. The problem occurs only sometimes.

Any idea?

Thanks a lot,

Johannes
Yes, I've had similar problems with adding annotations.

For me, this happens when I start a new annotation and then add text without clicking to put the cursor in the box. During entry, nothing appears, but when I press Enter, the text is accepted and displays correctly. On some occasions (notably when I create a blank annotation), a tilde (~) appears in the box as well.

I've found that if I click in the box before entering text, my keystrokes appear as I type them. I'm not sure what the difference is.

For the record, I'm using a Mac, and have noticed this across ELAN, Mac OS, and QuickTime versions.

This seems to happen when the box has lost the focus, unknown why this occurs.
I can also reproduce the tilde poblem on the Mac: again no idea why. We keep searching for a solution.

We are having this problem as well, but only intermittently. In 3.6.0 as well as 3.8.1, sometimes we are unable to make an annotation. When dragging the cursor within the tier, it won't make a selection/annotation. Quitting out of Elan and restarting solves the problem. Sometimes we can solve the problem by making annotations in another tier or by selecting an earlier annotation within the same tier, although not always.

We get the same issue in parent or child tiers.

thanks,
Jen
