moving all annotations only works to the right

Hi,

Just want to add a little hint that might be useful.

I read in the manual and in the instructions you find here in the forum that you can move all annotations left or right by using Annotation - Shift all annotations and then entering a positive or negative value. Well, unfortunately that doesn't work, because negative numbers are not accepted by the most recent version(s) of ELAN.

The way to work around this is to use another option that now exists: position the Crosshair at the very end of the file, after all annotations, or at the very beginning, in front of all annotations, and then use the option Annotation - Shift - Annotations on All Tiers, left of Crosshair (or ...right of Crosshair respectively)! There you are allowed to enter a negative number.

Regards,
Claudia
Actually, Shift all annotations should work to the left as well as to the right. I just tested it and it seems to work correctly. E.g. with a document open I can shift all annotations to the right 5000 ms and then shift them back by entering -5000. Note that there is a constraint on shifting to the left: it is not possible to shift any annotation beyond the "point zero". Consequently, if there is an annotation on any tier starting at 0 ms, it is not possible to use a negative offset. If the annotation with the lowest begin time starts at 1500 ms, the shift value should be greater than (or equal to) -1500.
The same constraints apply to the other "shift annotations" functions.
