to other ELAN / Toolbox users: how do you keep the main
utterance field in ELAN whole, so that you see the entire annotation in the Grid
option, as the context of searches, etc., rather than the individual words?
I start out with a complete field in ELAN, but then once I go back and forth to Toolbox, my utterance annotation is broken into separate words. It's something Toolbox interlinearization does to the data, as other tiers of the same type are not affected.
I think one answer is to add another tier (in the manuals I see a "words" tier, that gets broken up, while the "speech" tier stays whole) -- but then is there an easy way to duplicate the data from the utterance tier to a second tier, that would not undergo interlinearization?
Plus, duplicate data sounds like madness. Is there another way to keep the utterance annotation whole?
Thanks,
Loretta
