video skips
I am running ELAN 3.5.0 on a brand new iMac. I never experienced this problem before, but today all the videos started skipping. They are synchronized, and they are files that used to run properly. They go in and out of synchronization. One video will spontaneously jump to another place on the tape. I have tried a number of different files. Any ideas?
Re: video skips
Maybe you can provide some more information on the system (Intel, QuickTime version, used file type etc)?
Could you please try the latest ELAN, 3.7.2, as well and see how that one behaves?

Re: Re: video skips
We stopped using the new version of ELAN because we could not get it to synch. We could set it up properly, but when the video played it was not in synch. Even videos that were known to be in synch prior to updating ELAN would not play appropriately. I can test the new version again, but I am afraid that we will have those synching issues again.
MAC OS X version 10.5.7
2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Quicktime version 7.6(473)
the files are .mov files for QuickTime movie
Re: Re: Re: video skips
Oh yes, that's true, there are problems with synchronizing when using the new Cocoa based player, I forgot about that. Setting an offset is not yet implemented. You can try to switch to the QuickTime based player as described here:
http://www.lat-mpi.eu/tools/elan/elanforum/simpleforumpost.2009-04-07.5053039867
But you'll likely run into the same playback problems as with ELAN 3.5.
We hope to have this fixed in the next release. If you would be willing to be a test user of the new player, just send your email address to me at han.sloetjes AT mpi.nl.

In the meantime, do you have any idea why I would be seeing this skipping problem? Does that have to do with the quicktime player?
