unexpected silence

Dear ELAN team,

I have an occasional odd problem: only 3 seconds or so of a sound file will be audible after which the crosshair continues to move but there is no output. I cannot figure out under which circumstances this occurs but once it happens to a file it seems to stick with that file.

Thanks so much for any relief you may be able to offer and happy new year.

Daniel

Is this on a Mac or PC? What kind of audio file is it?
There has been a similar problem with sound-only transcriptions on the Mac, but I assumed that this had been solved.

Sorry for leaving out the specs. It's running on a MacBook Pro and on further investigation, it does not effect files permanently as I suggested before. Rather, it seems to effect projects in which I link a MPEG file to a WAV file (with the WAV file as master). The silence problem only begins after the video is linked. Re-opening ELAN with just the WAV file brings it back to normal. Opening just the MPEG file also operates as normal.

Many thanks,
Daniel
