Moving annotations as a whole to the right/left?

Posted by Stubie at 2008-10-24 20:32

i would like to move all annotations in a tier as a whole to the right/left.

My problem:
Some tiers (and all annotations in it) are no longer parallel to the video.
It looks like the whole tier has made a little “step” (2 seconds) to the left.
Others made a “step” to the right.
Is it possible, to “pull” a tier to the left/right?

This functionality is on the to do list. Hopefully it will be implemented before the next release.
As a workaround you can combine a number of features that are available now.
To shift all annotations of a single tier or a number of tiers:
- make sure you have a save copy of your file!
- do a "Save as" to some temporary file.
- in this temporary file delete all tiers that don't need to be shifted
- choose Edit -> Shift all Annotations... and enter the number of milliseconds (positive or negative)
- in the "original" file delete the tiers that you shifted in the temporary file
- choose "Merge Transcriptions..." and merge the original and the temporary file

- if necessary repeat these steps for other tiers that have a different "shift value" than the previous tier(s)

It's a hassle but probably the best possible way now.
