How to make a subdivision in dependet tier

Posted by amnet at 2008-09-18 00:03

Hello, I use Elan 3.0.6 in Leopard.

When I make a selection in a dependent tier, the selection occupies the entire space of the corresponding selection in parent line, regardless of the stereotype of the dependent tier (even in time subdivision and simbolic subdivisión)
How can I make subdivisions (symbolics or temporals) in dependent tiers?

The first annotation on a dependent tier of type "time subdivision" or "symbolic subdivision" always occupies the entire space of the parent annotation. The next annotations on the dependent tiers can be added as follows:

- symbolic subdivision: activate the first dependent annotation and choose "New Annotation Before" or "New Annotation After" from the main menu or the right mouse popup menu

- time subdivision: create a time selection that only spans part of the space of the parent annotation and choose "New Annotation Here" from the popup menu. A new depending annotation will be created and the existing dependent annotation will be adapted.

The point is that with these 2 tier types there can be no gaps between annotations on the depending tier; the whole space of the parent is always occupied. If you want to have gaps on the dependent tier you can use the type "Included In".
