VOB/Mpeg files & SMIL
Dear All,
the team I’m
part of is facing two problems:
-when working
on a Pentium 4 equipped with MS Windows XP Professional we cannot properly import
VOB and/or mpeg files into ELAN. Indeed we can see the videos, but we cannot
hear the audios (the problem is very similar to the one reported by elain on
2008-02-14).
-when working
on a Pentium M equipped with MS Windows XP Home Edition we can import and
annotate files, but we are unable to export them to SMIL. We always
receive the following message: TransformerException:java.io.FileNotFoundException:file:XXXXXXXXXXXXXX/XXX/XXXX.smil no such file or directory (the problem is very similar to the one
reported by jjacquin on 2007-08-06).
Could You
please help us?
Thanks in
advance,
LSN
Re: VOB/Mpeg files & SMIL
About the 2 problems:
- problems with playing media files on Windows are often caused by installed codecs. To verify this you could create or open a file with one of these media files and then quit ELAN. Find the most recent ELAN log file in <user_home>\.elan_data (elan0.log or elan1.log etc). Locate the line:
Filters in the filter chain:
copy the part following that line and maybe post it here. If this isn't a codec problem it might be in the display settings (or hardware acceleration settings).
- I've been able to reproduce the SMIL export error (on Windows not on the Mac). It has worked on Windows before and I don't understand why it doesn't work anymore. But I think I've found a solution or workaround that will be in the next release.
