audio problem-transcription mode.

Posted by elfi at 2011-12-01 11:55

Hello, <br>I've just started using ELAN for an audiovisual project. Although I synchronize accurately my utterances, when I switch to transcription mode audio always stops a few milliseconds before the utterance is completed (video keeps moving a bit more, probably until the end). For the moment I'm writing the transcription in annotation mode, but this is quite complicated. What could be the problem?<br>Thanks in advance,<br>E.<br>

In Which platform(OS) does this problem occur? And when you mean the audio stops few milliseconds before, is it what you hear or is it related to the visualization in the signal viewer(waveform)? In general, the playback of the audio and video of an annotation should be the same in annotation mode and transcription mode. Can you give more detailed information regarding this.

Hello, <br>I'm using Windows 7. I have videos in .avi format (mpeg4), without separate .wav files. So I'm refering to what I hear, there is no waveform. <br>E.<br>

Hi, so far we haven't been able to reproduce the problem. Whether a selection is played in Annotation mode or in Transcription mode, the effect seems to be the same. It is the same function, the same code that is executed in both modes.
I could imagine that in case of mp4 in an .avi file the playback of segments is not always accurate, but that should be independent of the mode you're working in. So, we have no explanation nor a solution so far.
