ELAN 3.9.1 - Problems with video synchronization

Posted by amsilva at 2011-11-29 12:47

Hello,

I've tried to use my Elan program 3.9.1 selecting videos in MPEG format. I have to synchronize two videos (two cameras filming the same communicative situation from opposed angles to have all participants focussed), and initially I can do it but when I need to navigate forward and backward the videos are not synchronized any more. I only use the sound of one of the videos. When I close ELAN and later open a new session, the videos are also no longer synchronized.

My computer has the Intel Duo Core and I have the K-Lite Codec Pack 720 Mega installed.

I would like to know how I can resolve this problem of synchronization.

Thank's!

There are maybe two things you can try. First, after switching back to annotation mode, you can do Edit->Linked Files and check the values in the Offset column (and see if these offsets make sense). This to check whether the synchronization itself worked correctly.
Further, there seem to be a lot of problems with media playback on your system, problems that are not easily explained. Is it possible to e.g. uninstall the K-Lite codec? And do you have access to other pc's with other or less codecs installed, so that you can compare the behavior with that on your own pc?
