about language options
I'm so glad to find that Chinese an some other languages are already available in ELAN because my data is in Chinese. Right now, there is only one way to type in Chinese characters in the annotation. I think Chinese speakers like me probably would be happier to see the integration of other typing methods such as "wubi" and "zhengma" etc., which are more efficient.
What's more, the convention in my field (East Asian Studies & Chinese Linguistics) usually requires phonetic annotating/glossing (or whatever it should be called), which is called "pinyin". It will be very helpful to have some vowel letters with tone marks such as ě and ù available in the language options.
Maybe there are already solutions which I'm not aware of regarding the difficulties I'm having. I'd really appreciate if someone can share their knowledge.
Re: about language options
we will add the request for "wubi" and "zhengma" to the request list but unfortunately we cannot give it high priority. About pinyin, maybe you can use one of the 3 IPA input methods that are available (maybe you can check if pinyin is indeed mostly latin characters with characters with tone markers?).
