error message when trying to open selection in Praat
Hi,
I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but I cannot open the selection in Praat and this is the message I get:
cannot open file Praat "executeD:\Temp\\openpraat-v3.praat"V:\SOCIOL~1\NZ-phonology\Edin_Pol\conversation\Edin_Pol_007&Edin_Edin_002_conversation
Edin_Pol_007&Edin_Pol_002_conversation.wav"
1425260 1426990
Script line 1 not performed or completed:
<<Read from file...Praat"executeD:\Temp\\openpraat-v3.praat"V:\SOCIOL~1\NZ-phonology\Edin_Pol\conversation\Edin_Pol_007&Edin_Edin_002_conversation
Edin_Pol_007&Edin_Pol_002_conversation.wav"
1425260 1426990>>Script not completed
Any idea what i'm doing wrong? I will be very very grateful for any help - I have never used Praat before, so it might be somethng simle, but I have not found any hints online.
thanks,
Anna
Re: error message when trying to open selection in Praat
The problem lies in the folder with a white space in the name and starting with "SOCIOL". The name is converted in a Windows way using a tilde and a number. While this seems to works for the path to the applications (Praat or sendpraat), this apparently doesnot work when a file path is passed to the script.
We'll see if there is another solution for this problem, but you might want to consider storing your wav files in a folder without whitespaces in the complete path.

Re: Re: error message when trying to open selection in Praat
Hi,
I had the same problem, so I deleted all the whitespaces in all the folders, files... But still it doesn't work, I still get this error message:
Cannot open file „Praat“ execute
C:\Users\HP\.elan_data\openpraat-v3.praat
“C: \Uni\Promotion\Daten\wavmpgs\LH_1.wav“ 4332 4865“.
Script line 1 not performed or completed:
«Read from file… Praat “execute
C: \Users\HP\.elan_data\openpraat-v3.praat
“C: \Uni\Promotion\Daten\wavmpgs\LH_1.wav“ 4332 4865 »
Script “C:\Users\HP\Praat\message.txt” not completed.
Praat: message not completely handled.
Is there any help?
Thanks a lot in advance,
Rahel
