TranscriberAG

Posted by leaping at 2011-07-28 14:52

TranscriberAG is the successor of the Transcriber tool.
It has been completely redeveloped by Bertin Technologies to overcome the shortcomings of the initial design and adopt a more powerful annotation model. This new version is based on Annotation Graphs (AG), the default format of the new annotation files: the associated XML-based format is named tag, and file names are suffixed .tag.

Fully supported waveform display of mp3 files.

Hi, http://transag.sourceforge.net/index.php?content=manual is an interesting starting point to read about TranscriberAG. Thanks to FFMPEG, various media formats such as WAV, AU, AIFF, MP3 and SPH are supported. There are spell-checking dictionaries and font / writing direction support for French, English, Arabic, Russian and Chinese. Mac OS X 10.6 is not yet supported, Mac OS X 10.5 is.

The tool can can read old Transcriber 1.3/1.4.trs but not save as .trs - however, SegmentTimeMark .stm and Childes CHAT .cha can both be imported and exported. Also, ConversationTimeMark .ctm, MDTM (limited) and SCLITE sgml can be imported and there is export as HTML and plain text as well. The native storage format is .tag which is transcription graph based, probably similar to ELAN .eaf and other annotation formats. There are also batch converters for the formats for which import is supported.

But Why transcriberAG couldn't support Chinese filename?
