Just downloaded ELAN and got this warning in the logfile:

Status: WARNING
Additional Notes: WARNING - Win32Exception
The program starts OK, but nothing happens when I (try to) open my old eaf-files. What can I do about it?

The warning in the log file indicates that the installer was not able to determine if and where QuickTime is installed. This is only important if you really need the QuickTime player in ELAN. You need QT player if your media files are QT specific files (.mov) and likely for mpeg-4 (mp4) files.
If you have other media file types then something else must prevent ELAN from opening the eaf files.
Is there any useful information in the log file after an attempt to open an eaf file (View->View Log...)?
