Converting mp3 to wav
I have several .mp3 files that I need to convert into .wav files so that I can transcribe them using Elan. I have tried doing this with audacity and the file's extension is changed, however, when I try putting the sound file into Elan there are no sound waves (I can listen to it though, I just can't see it).

I also have other .wav files that I can also listen to, but I can't see the sound waves in Elan. I think that these were also originally .mp3's that were converted into .wav.

I don't know if this problem has to do with the compressing/uncompressing of the sound files.

Does anyone know a good way to convert .mp3 to .wav?

Or: Does anyone know how to get .wav files to show the sound waves?

Re: Converting mp3 to wav
When converting mp3 to wav using Audacity, I went: File> Export and then exported as .wav.
Re: Re: Converting mp3 to wav
Strange, when I try the same export from Audacity (1.3.13) the wave form is visible in ELAN. The default encoding used by Audacity for WAV seems to be signed 16 bit PCM, which is supported by ELAN's waveform view.
Normally when ELAN encounters an unsupported WAV encoding it should display this as text in the viewer.
Maybe there are some useful messages in the log (View->View Log...)?
