.MTS HD file plays in windows media player but not in ELAN
Hi,
I am using an .MTS video file from a Canon HD camera. The file opens and plays in Windows Media Player, but when I try to open it in ELAN I get an error message about the file not being supported and ELAN exits itself out. Any suggestions on why this file would play in Windows Media Player but not in ELAN?
Thanks,
Jessica
Re: .MTS HD file plays in windows media player but not in ELAN
ELAN uses DirectShow, the framework that is the basis of WMP. In general this means that files that are supported by WMP can also be played in ELAN. But sometimes this is not the case, maybe because of extra functionality that is built into WMP. But this is more of a guess. If ELAN really exits (crashes) this indicates that some serious error occurred in, most likely, DirectShow.

Hi,
I am having the same problem. Would you suggest, then, to convert the file so that it has a more common extension (e.g. .mpeg)? If so, could you recommend a good conversion software?
Thanks for the help!
