Automatic annotation
I wonder if it is possible to make automatic annotations in Elan? If, for example, I decide that every occurrence of the word "green" should be annotated: adj-colour, is there a way for the program to search for and annotate these occurrences automatically (by using a controlled vocabulary)?<br><br>Best wishes, Simone<br>
Re: Automatic annotation
Actually this is not available as a separate function. It seems to be useful and it might already be on the wish list (will have to check).
There might be a workaround. Assuming that you have the word "green" on one tier and want to have the gloss "adj-colour" on a depending tier, you could use the Search -> Find (and Replace) function to find all annotations on the depending tier where the annotation on the parent tier matches "green". And then use Edit -> Replace in the Search dialog to set the value of all found annotations to "adj-colour".
This assumes that you have already (empty) annotations on the depending tier. And I noticed that there seems to be a problem with regular expression search on a tier that is associated with a controlled vocabulary.
(This brings to mind that it might be useful to have a function to create empty annotations on a symbolic association tier everywhere there is an annotation on the parent tier.)
