Two-way FieldWorks integration

Hello ELAN developers,<br><br>I just wanted to ask if you have plans to implement two-way integration with FieldWorks, and if so whether there is an expected time for this functionality to be ready.<br><br>I ask because more and more documenters seem to be planning to start projects with FieldWorks rather than Toolbox, and they would obviously benefit from being able to time-align during their projects, rather than right at the end.<br><br>Thank you,<br><br>Stuart<br>

ELAN has an import function for FLEx files, which includes a kind of intermediate solution for retaining time alignment information during successive imports of a FLEx file. Back then when we implemented the import function we didn't bother about implementing an export function because:
- the FLEx format doesn't provide a dedicated way to store time alignment information
- at that point in time FieldWorks didn't import the FLEx files (or at least this function was little known)

There are currently discussions going on on how to improve "round tripping" between FieldWorks and ELAN. There have been (or will be) some changes in the FLEx xml format and importing back into FieldWorks seems to have been implemented/improved. And apart from the time information there are also some other issues to solve. So, it is difficult to tell when new versions of import and a first version of export to FLEx will be implemented.
