Pitch and intensity in ELAN

Posted by Ramin at 2010-09-06 10:06

Hi,

How can phonetic information like pitch and intensity be shown in ELAN? Should they be imported (e.g. from Praat)? How?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Ramin, you can indeed use Praat to save the Pitch / Intensity as a CSV file and then display that as two timeseries curves in ELAN. The Avatech detector TagVowels does exactly that - it calls Praat and generates timeseries. In addition, it generates annotations by tagging timespans with vowels.

Sorry I'm new to ELAN and Praat. I don't know how to create a CSV file in Pratt. I wonder if more detailed (procedural) explanation could be provided.
