Re: Re: Re: Timeseries/linked files: more than one file
I'm not sure if I can reproduce that. In the media synchronization mode you can select which file you wish to synchronize below the "player-n offset" label. You have to apply the current offsets several times if you want to sync more than one timeseries file. At least in the "Linked Secondary Files" tab (and in the eaf) the files have a different offset in such case. Are you saying that in practice only one value is applied to all track? I would have to check that.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Timeseries/linked files: more than one file
Thank you for you answer!
Hmmm... I think that I should make clear again that I am still talking about linked _secondary_ files (timeseries data), not media files. AFAIK the media file synchronization works but my posts in this thread were all about secondary files. (They are called <LINKED_FILE_DESCRIPTOR> in the .eaf XML, that's why I didn't mention the word "secondary".) Sorry for the confusion!
Maybe it's easier when I try to recall the whole process so that you can see what exactly I mean? OK, this is what I did in Elan Version 3.9.0 OSX:
* Edit > Linked files: added 2 "linked secondary files" in the csv format (let's call them "rem.csv" and "rom.csv")
(also tried to associate them with each other (sorry, I do not understand this association option). Can this be the problem?)
* Configured 2x6 Tracks of both linked secondary files (12 Tracks as a whole)
* Created 2 Track Panels in the timeseries viewer
* added the tracks of file rom.csv to Track Panel 1
* added the tracks of file rem.csv to Track Panel 2
* saved
* chose "media synchronization mode"
(* added the 6 Tracks of file csv_2 to Track Panel 2 again since they are not copied)
What Elan now shows is my Video (Player 1) Offset 00:00:00.000 on the left and on the right the timeseries viewer with 2 Track Panels (6 Tracks each). Below, there are 2 Radiobuttons "Offset" and 3 Radiobuttons "Player" with the options: All, Player 1, Player 2.
I can find no option where I can choose between the two linked Secondary files. So I choose to synchronize Player 2 in order to snip the timeseries data preceding the experiment.
After pressing "Apply Current Offsets" the synchronization worked only for rem.csv (for the first linked secondary file)
When I open the Edit > Linked Files > Linked Secondary Files again now, there is only for the first file an offset. The same phenomenon can be found in the .eaf file.
Now to my last post again: Even if I add a "TIME_ORIGIN" for the second linked file by hand in the .eaf file, it seems to be ignored!
Since I _really_ need to synchronize both timeseries data files, I think I will merge both linked files into one file the next time. This should do for a while. But anyway, perhaps there are others who would like this feature, too. Thanks a lot for reading this huge post and thanks anyway for the ELAN timeseries support! :)
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Timeseries/linked files: more than one file
Although I'm not sure if this does matter, but if you add the two timeseries files you shouldn't need to associate one with the other. This option is meant to associate a timeseries file with a particular audio or video file (only relevant if you e.g. have more than one video file linked).
What should happen if you have two timeseries files linked and switch to sync. mode, is that you have 1 player for the timeseries files. Underneath there should be the following:
Player2 Offset nn:nn:nn:nnn
file:///path_to_first_ts_file
pulldown box with all linked timeseries files
Apparently you do not have this selection box that allows you to specify which timeseries file you want to synchronize? In principle you should be able to sync the timeseries files one by one via the Player 2. As far as I can see the different offsets are then stored and loaded when opened again?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Timeseries/linked files: more than one file
Not sure if this has been addressed.. but I often have this same problem. For me, it seems to be more of an issue of how the time offsets are DISPLAYED in ELAN's media synchronization screen.

Basically when I am in the media synch mode, if I change one timeseries offset, the other one timeseries displays as being changed. For example if I have a file called 1.csv set to 00:00:36.5 and then I set a second file (2.csv) to 00:00:05.5, the 1.csv file displays 00:00:36.5.

Sometimes I get lucky using the absolute method of synchronizing. Then although the media synchronization mode displays that the CSV ofsets are both the same, the EAF file has the correct time offsets in it (if I open the .eaf file in a text editor), the linked file menu has the correct times, and the plotted CSV data in the annotation mode is also seems correct.

Is there a way to have the offsets in the media synchronization mode display correctly? Or is there something I should do differently to avoid this problem....

(I'm running 4.2.0 in Windows 7)

Happy to email you the error log (its really long for this one...) if that will be a help... just let me know.
