imported tiers cause ELAN 3.9.0 freeze
I just updated to ELAN 3.9.0 and imported tiers seem to be causing a problem (using Mac OS 10.6.3 on MacBook Pro).
Using an ELAN template (which I have successfully used to import tiers into new transcription files many times with ELAN 3.8.1), ELAN 3.9.0 initially seems to import the tiers correctly (they are listed correctly on the left and they can be visually sorted), but ELAN either freezes up (spinning blue ball) when I try to add a new annotation or it simply does not add a new annotation at all.
If I save and quit before trying to add an annotation to an imported tier, then re-open the file, then ELAN never gets beyond the "Initializing..." stage.
Any advice and/or help would be appreciated.
Re: imported tiers cause ELAN 3.9.0 freeze
The problem description seems to indicate that invalid tier structures have been created; dependent tiers without a "linguistic stereotype" or independent tiers with a "linguistic stereotype". I couldn't think right away of any changes in the import function in ELAN 3.9.0 that could cause these difficulties.
If you send me the template and the eaf into which you want to import, I can reproduce the problem and hopefully fix it.

Re: imported tiers cause ELAN 3.9.0 freeze
It appears that there is a bug in the Import tiers function that can lead to invalid tier structures. This bug only has an effect when importing from a template (or eaf file) that contains tiers with a linguistic type of the "Included In" stereotype.
This will be fixed in the next release of ELAN.

Re: Re: imported tiers cause ELAN 3.9.0 freeze
I am having a similar problem, except I am trying to import tiers from an older Elan file 3.4 or so into 3.8.1. When I click on a selection to annotate it, a blue spinning ball appears and I cannot transcribe anything.
