linking movie?

Posted by LLevesque2 at 2010-02-15 15:10

Hi, I recently purchased a Sony Vaio laptop, with Windows 7. I then downloaded the newest version of Elan.

Now, the problem I'm having is that when the eaf file is unlinked to a movie, I will add the movie, but then when I click on "apply", nothing happens.

If I try to do it the opposite way - if I try to open a eaf file that is already linked to a movie, it will say "initializing" and it stays that way. The file itself never actually opens.

Does anyone know what the problem is and how I can solve this? Thanks.

This has probably to do with the media file type and/or installed codecs on the system. The best way to find out what the problem is, is by inspecting the log file after closing the window that stopped in the "Initializing" phase.
The log is in <user_home>\.elan_data and is named elan0.log (or elan1.log etc. look at the timestamp). At the end of the file there might be a listing of "filters" followed by an error message. You can post this last bit here.

Thanks, Han, for your reply.

I actually decided to uninstall elan and reinstall it just to see what would happen. I then opened up my elan file and was able to link it with the movie. So that worked after all!
