MPEG-2 and fluency in ELAN

Posted by dennisfelling at 2010-01-05 13:36

Hi there,

I'm working on a rather large (1GB) MPEG-2 file in ELAN. An Elecard decoder has been installed and when simply watching the movie in ELAN, the fluency is as it should be: it skips no frames.

However when I'm in a tier going through frame after frame and speed it up by holding CTRL+right arrow, the fluency is not great as ELAN seems to skip frames here and there.

Is there anything that could be done on this as it seems to be an issue in ELAN and not in the movie clip itself?

Thanks already!

Dennis

I haven't noticed that behavior yet. There is no deliberate, built-in delay in showing the next frame.
Is setting the playback rate to e.g. 20 an alternative (I'm on a Mac right now, so I can't check this myself right now)?
