Importing Transana Data

Posted by trevormbenjamin at 2010-01-05 10:27

I have a large collection of Transana data. Is there any way to import this data into ELAN? (I am aware that formatting, e.g. underlining, will NOT be recognized in ELAN. I really only need the tiering, transcript 'text' and the timestamps I have added.)

Tx.

There is no direct import function for Transana data. As far as I know Transana stores its data in a database. And it should have an export to XML feature. What kind of XML is produced, I don't know. Maybe it can simply be converted to CSV/Tab-delimited text files (which can be imported into ELAN)?
Apart from that there is a tool named Transformer that should be able to convert from Transana to ELAN's eaf format (http://www.oliverehmer.de/transformer/). Might be worth trying.
