import a tier/tiers into a current .eaf file

Posted by tnguyen8 at 2009-12-02 04:43

Dear Han,

My eaf file includes many translated languages tiers from different translators. Normally, I will my original file to my translators. I want to import only the tier one translator just translated into my current eaf file but not all of them (because I have other tiers except the one she just translated). Is this possible and how?

The second question is related to import toolbox file (this question is different from Zhuangyu's. When I import toolbox file (e.g TAM.txt), it always asks me a shoesbox file (.typ), where should I get it? in my toolbox data?

The third question is about LINK FILES. is it possible to add more sound files into a current one? or it has to be one below another? I used "link secondary files"but it doesn't work even though in "status", it said "linked".

I appreciate your time and help.
Regards,

Tam

Hi, about the three questions:

- to import one or a few tiers from one file into another you'll have to use the File->Merge transcriptions feature. It lets you select which tiers to import.
- the .typ file is part of the Toolbox project, it is probably in the same location as the other project files. If you open the Toolbox .txt file in a text editor, the last word of the first line can give you a clue about the name of the .typ file (usually these are the same).
- you can link more than one audio file, but only the first audio file in the list will be used for the waveform and, if there is no video or the sound file is the first in the list, will be audible. The secondary link files tab is used for non audio or video type of files.

Hope this helps,
-Han
