Sychronization lost in Mac 3.6.0 -> 3.7.2

Posted by charlesrich at 2009-06-16 19:09

I just tried upgrading my MacBook Pro (Leopard 10.5.6) from Elan 3.6.0 to 3.7.2. Unfortunately, the synchronization (between two players) seems to be broken in 3.7.2, when I read in an eaf file created in 3.6.0.

In more detail: If I go into Media Synchronization mode (Absolute Offsets and "All" Player selected), the Offset numbers shown for Player 1 and Player 2 are correct, but the the image in the Player 2 window is incorrect (basically showing the frame at zero rather than the offset, I think). If I click on Player 2, then the correct image frame is shown, but if I go back to All, it is still not synchronized. It is also not synchronized properly in Annotation mode.

So I have had to fall back to 3.6.0 until further notice.

Anyone else seeing this problem?

Tx, -CR
Yes, this is a known problem in ELAN 3.7.2 for the Mac. A new player solution has been introduced that doesn't correctly handle the synchronization of 2 or more media files. You can switch to the traditional QT for Java based player solution and hope you don't get other problems instead. Follow this link for instructions:

We are working on a solution and will probably release a Mac-only bug fix release soon. Stay informed through the mailing list and/or this forum.
