Hello to everybody :)
I'm a portuguese student and i'm testing ELAN tool for my master thesis. I read in a cientific paper that we can export those annotations on video for a XML output file... But i cannot find that option in the program interface. Is it possible? Can anyone help me?
Closer to that, I only found SMIL... :(
My aim is to have a XML file with those manual annotations that i did in the video and test it in a web page search engine... please tell me that is possible... :)

ELAN's own file format, EAF, is an XML format and any operation that can be performed on an XML file, like XSL transfomation, can be performed on an EAF file.
For more information on online searching and synchronized video playback, you might want to have a look at ANNEX (http://www.lat-mpi.eu/tools/annex/) and try the "annotation content search" option from the popup menu of any node in the corpus tree of the IMDI browser (http://corpus1.mpi.nl/ds/imdi_browser/).

I discovered a brochure from you on the Internet and there i saw the answers to all my problems :)
I will try Annex too! I didn't know that ".eaf" was a XML file too, i'm sorry. But now i read about it and i understand it all now! Thanks! :)
If I have some doubts again (I hope not), can I post here my doubts?

I'm sorry to bore you again, but I try to access to your recomendation link (http://corpus1.mpi.nl/ds/imdi_browser) and anonymous users don't have permission to annotation content search.. I tried to introduce my username and password but i can't make the registration.
How can I do it? Please help me.

Hmm, that's strange. When I'm not logged in (user: anonymous), right click the top node "IMDI corpora" and select "annotation content search", I get a new tab with ANNEX search with access to some 2000 eaf files (amongst others).
This is not working for you?
Also, if you select "request resource access" from a node in the tree and from the following "Resource Request System" page click the link to the registration page in order to create a user id and password, you are not able to create an account? Can you describe the problem in more detail if this is the case?
