Elan and SendPraat (Window)
I currently use ELAN on my PC for my annotations. I want to send a selected sound file to Praat, but it does not work. First, it asked me to locate the Praat executable (like Anna's question posted a year ago on her Mac). I do not know how to locate the Praat executable. I went to SendPraat website as advised in ELAN and downloaded Sendpraat.exe into my PC. However, when I run it, it doesn't work either. I do not know if it is because of my Vista or because of something else? Any ideas about what happened?
I appreciate your support.
Regards,
Tam
Re: Elan and SendPraat (Window)
Normally this should work:
- download and install Praat
- download the sendpraat.exe and save it in the same Praat folder
- when for the first time opening a selection from ELAN, you'll have to locate Praat.exe. So, in the file browser window navigate to the folder (e.g. C:\Praat) and select the Praat.exe file
- Praat should now launch
- when prompted do the same for the sendpraat.exe (it does't do anything when launched separately)
- the selection should now open in the running Praat
It should work on Vista no less then on XP or other supported Windows version.
So, the first step is to make Praat launch from within ELAN. If that doesn't work after performing the steps mentioned above,
please describe what exactly happens.

Re: Elan and SendPraat (Window)
Recently, I noticed the problem opening segments from Elan in Praat via SendPraat. <br><br>With Elan annotation files (eaf) I have saved in former years the problem does NOT occur. <br><br>But every new Elan annotation file I have made the last few months the following happens:<br>After highlighting a segment of a long wave file within Elan and calling Praat (via the right-click menu in Elan) to open the wave segment, Praat starts and opens the long wave file displaying the first 30 seconds of the long wave file but not the desired segment. Then a window pops up describing a scripting error:<br><br>Editor "Long Sound ..." does not exist. <br>Script line 15 not performed or completed: "Editor LongSound filename$".<br>Script C:\...\openpraat-v2.praat not completed. <br>Script line 1 not performed or completed: "execute C:\...\openpraat-v2.praat R:\myfile.wav myfile 3496903 3498103"<br>Script C:\...\Praat\Message.txt not completed.<br>Praat: Message not completely handled.<br><br>I am using Windows 7 64-bit, Elan 4.0.1 and the most recent Praat version (5218).
