praat textgrid import/delete empty annotations

praat textgrid import/delete empty annotations
I transcribe conversations in Praat, turn by turn, each turn is transcribed in an annotation segment in the speakers tier in the TextGrid. Between two turns / moments of speech production there are absences of speech of course, Praat however doesn't distinguish segments containing transcriptions from segments that are empty (except by the fact that they are empty... which indeed is good enough). In Elan however these segments of absence of speech are rendered as annotations, not as " no annotation " / " nothing "... So:
Is there a way to avoid empty annotation segments when importing Praat TextGrid files into Elan?
Or: if I have an Elan transcript with empty annotations (as a " misinterpretation " of the conversion functionality Praat>ELan in Elan...), is there a way to delete them automatically or semi-automatically (e.g. as search/replacement procedure - I tried, but didnt find a solution quickly).
Thank you,
Lukas
Re: praat textgrid import/delete empty annotations
Two times "No" to the questions, I'm afraid.
I think the only way to solve this, would be for us to add an option to the import function whether or not to create "empty" annotations. Because some people do want these segments to be converted to annotations.
There is currently no way to delete all empty annotations in one operation, so the only way is to delete them one-by-one.
