synchronizing problem

Posted by nberlove at 2008-09-15 16:46

When the two videos were shot, one of them began about 5 minutes later than the second. I have synched them up, but they will only play from where the second camera begins. I need to be able to see the data on the first 5 minutes from the first camera. Any ideas?

That is (currently) not possible in ELAN, a negative offset is not supported. And that is what you would need for the second video.
The only solution I see is to insert about 5 minutes of "empty" video frames at the beginning of the second video (in some video editing application).

Great, thanks. That's what I had done, but I wasn't sure if there was an easier way to do it.

This has been the key-problem of our ELAN use. We've inserted extra black-frames beginnings of clips so far. Any news if the "negative offset value" is going to be a feature in later releases. Would relly love to see it happen.

-Jarkko
