"Master media" and video position

Posted by wschuette at 2008-08-19 12:15
Hi,
when working with several synchronized video files, they may be moved up and down in the "Linked Files" window so that file on top is shown left. Unfortunately the position of the file is linked with its "master media" status (4.2.10: "The file on top automatically becomes the Master Media file."). Is there a way to split those two features, e.g. when working with two videos, it should be possible to make the right one the Master Media file as well, if this is the "natural" order of the two views and the right video has the better audio track?

Hi,
there is already a way to change the position of the video's without changing the order in the "Linked Files" list: double click on any video that is not the leftmost and it will become the leftmost video.

Dear Han,
thank you very much for your quick answer. However we still have a problem using ELAN 3.6.0: "Double click on any video that is not the leftmost and it will become the leftmost video" works in the "Annotation Mode", but not in the "Media Synchronization Mode", which we would like to use not only for synchronization but for playing the file without annotating. Is there a way to change the position of the videos in the Media Synchronization Mode too?
Best regards
Wilfried
No, in Synchronization Mode the position cannot be changed. This mode really is intended for synchronization.
What is the reason for playing in Synchronization mode? If you have two video's and want them to be larger then the default size in the main window, you could also resize the area available for the media players by dragging the little divider or resize icon on the right of the window, just below the tabpane. Or you can detach the videos from the main window.
