Imported queries only work sporadically/partially
Hi,
To make sure that we are making identical searches for different linguistic phenomena in several files spread across a number of researchers, we attempted to distribute a small set of queries (currently 4) saved in the ".eaq" format to the different labelers. All queries are rather similar and specify matching some annotation (e.g. a filled pause "eeh" or truncations indicated by "*") on a speaker tier, but only when overlapping with an annotation on another tier indicating high cognitive load. All queries seem to identify the intended matches when constructed and run on any of the files we have manually annotated.
However, when having saved and re-imported any of the queries, only one of the four we have tried so far seems to work directly when you press "search" after importing it. The three others (incorrectly) generate no matches when you do that, but if you click in the constraint "window" once, and then press search, the query seems to work and generate the matches it should.
This behaviour occurs even when you try to reload and run a saved query on the very file which was loaded when the query was constructed.
We have experienced the same problem using both Elan 3.2.0 and 3.4.0.
Any hints as to what might be wrong and how to fix the problem would be appreciated!
Hoping for a quick reply,
Anders Lindström and colleages in the DICO project, www.dicoproject.org.
Re: Imported queries only work sporadically/partially
It is a bug, I have been able to reproduce the problem. That is, I have to really change something in the constraint window before the loaded query works.
I have managed to trace the location of the error and have fixed it. This fix will be in the next release. Unfortunately, for the time being the workaround you already described is the only alternative for constructing the query manually each time.
