Beginners Question on Annotations
Hi
Just started to look at Elan and on page 71 of the manual it says one of the three steps for annotation is selecting time intervals.
This says see section 0 !
I've imported an mp3 file and it built an eaf file but whilst I can add tiers not sure how to add time slots.
I've tried to manually add them by building an eaf file based on the xsd and cut and pasting sections it to look like the example eaf file but no joy!
Any suggestions gratefully received.
Cheers Paul
Re: Beginners Question on Annotations
The '0' in 'section 0' is obviously incorrect, but the link still works (at least in a up-to-date version of Acrobat Reader): it will jump to section 4.5. That section describes how to create and/or modify a selection with mouse and/or keyboard and how to create an annotation based on the selection.
It is, by the way, advised not to edit the .eaf file directly, unless you really have to.

Thank you for the remark. I've checked the manual for references to section 0 and the corrected version can be found now on this website.
Re: Re: Beginners Question on Annotations
Cheers back for holiday and got the new version of the manual.
Successfully got it to work even if I did manually edit the eaf file, always useful to look at the raw file when learning how it works ;-)
