new Annex version
Please note that Annex has been changed on a major scale.
Please note that Annex has been changed on a major scale. Here are some major changes and additions in the new Annex version:
Graphical user interface:
- Clearer structure of main menu and main application parts (-> video player, media information, mini data frame and main data view window)
- Context-sensitive help for main application parts (start drag the question mark in the upper tool bar and drop it over one of the main application parts)
- Continuous update of timeline and waveform information while video is running
- Timeline and waveform information can be displayed screen by screen or continually while video is running
- Video support for Linux (by using Flash as the video player)
Client-server interaction (mainly of interest for institutions which want to use Annex on their server):
- Clear separation between server-side data processing and client-side data display. This potentially allows (1) to connect the ANNEX interface to other corpus resource servers and (2) to create several client-side user interfaces to access the same ANNEX-based corpus resource server
- Resource files stored on the server in different annotation formats (Shoebox, CHAT, ELAN) are automatically converted to a single (and simple) XML transfer format.
- Different streaming server solutions can be used to stream video into Annex, depending on the budget and the maximum number of concurrent users.
